The Irish are a proud people and they take great offense when they're denied credit for something they invented. The term "Going Green" was originally coined by Paddy O'Shea at the turn of the century, referring to a drinker who was losing stamina at the bar. Granted it had nothing to do with preserving the environment, but then again, you don't see the Irish claiming they invented the internet, do you? That would just be crazy talk.
