In the time we spent with Hans he rarely, if ever, spoke of money. He picked up many of our tabs during our travel, but he never once quibbled about whose turn it was to pay. If he grabbed the check first, he paid in full, and we learned to do the same. Generosity (or cheapness, for that matter,) never goes unnoticed, and perhaps someday when you're in need, the generosity you've shown others will be returned to you. When the conversation strayed to matters of money one night, this was Han's reply. Then he winked and ordered another round. We finally understand what you were talking about Hans: Bangkok was definitely worth the trip.
